    Is Microwave cooking healthy?

What do you think? Microwave cooking is certainly quicker but is it as healthy as other methods of cooking? There was a time when we had no choice but to microwave because we had no other cooking method and it doesn't seem to have done any harm.

I have read a study that showed that using a microwave preserved more vitamin C, B6, calcium and magnesium when cooking broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes and peas, so it's healthier than traditional cooking methods.

Yes, mind you, I'm not sure about the safety of micro waves themselves though. I read somewhere, but cannot recall where, that older microwave ovens should be regularly checked for "leakage" of micro waves. It sounds a bit sinister!

I ended up purchasing my microwave oven after I've learned of its benefits. Vegetables boiled in the microwave oven are much healthier than boiled in the pan in the gas burner as microwave cooking retains the nutritive values of the food. Also, foods get cooked evenly in the microwave oven and it tastes delicious. This is the kitchen appliance which saves my cooking time and makes my food tastier.
