    Healthy Snacks

What is your favorite healthy snack?  I like many fruits, so you will find me stacking on them quite a bit.  I also like some of the flavored puffed rice snacks.  I though that some people may have some other good suggestions that they would like to share, so what are you snacking on?

For me, I think my absolute favorite snack for any time of the day are those little baby carrots.  Carrots are a free food so you can eat a cup of them at every meal and supposedly you don't have to count the calories.  (A dietician told me that so I'm going to assume it's fairly accurate.)

Carrots are yummy to snack on in between meals too.  Good stuff!

I usually have an apple or a pear for snacks in my work-breaks. In summer I might add a snack-size tub of low-fat yoghurt but whatever fruit is in season is fine to munch on during my breaks.

Oh yes the Quaker snacks are just great-some really wonderful flavours. Veggie sticks with a fat free dip is a nice change some times, and granola bars are wonderful for a breakfast snack on the run.

This might sound really odd, but I like to slice a banana in half longways and spread peanut butter on the inside - which is really tough, by the way - and then smash the halves together like a sandwich.  It's very filling, too. Smile

I snack on dried dried banana chips, dried cranberries and crystallized ginger. These are my all time favorite. Nothing can beat fresh fruits though. I love to snack on mangoes, banana, grapes and melon. They are cheaper if I buy it in the right season.

Nuts are great for snacking on and they are good for you, especially almonds which help lower your cholesterol. Brazils are also good for you as they contain potassium.

I can't stand the rice snacks, they are so tasteless and the Ryvita snacks taste like cardboard! Give me healthy and tasty stuff like apples and grapes any day.

Do you know what my favourite snack is? Toffee popcorn! I don't think it is unhealthy either as it is just puffed corn with a slight coating of toffee.

I guess popcorn is no worse than anything else. After all, even fruit contains sugar, so where is the difference? I have never really understood why fruit sugars are supposed to be better for us than other sugars.
